Supporting Our Heroes

 

Connecticut's law enforcement officers and first responders work in unique occupations. When they leave for their shift, the loved ones they left at home do not know if they will ever return alive or in what shape. They risk their safety daily to ensure ours. In short, they are our HEROES, and I'm proud to support them with the resources they require to perform their duties safely and effectively.

 

As your representative, I've worked to take care of the needs of our law enforcement and first responders. I've supported legislation to give law enforcement agencies flexibility when dealing with emergencies, led the fight to correct our “use of force” statute, helped pass legislation holding criminals more accountable if they are found to have intentionally hurt or killed a canine officer, helped pass legislation creating a fallen officers fund to support the families of officers tragically killed in the line of duty, and helped pass legislation expanding the ability of local police and fire chiefs to declare line-of-duty deaths as a result of an emergency.
